Fly up & ride down!!
Begin with a shuttle from central Queenstown up to Coronet Peak, then jump on the "chairlift to the summit". Ride the iconic Coronet Peak trails including the famous Rude Rock trail, then deep down into Skippers Canyon. From here you will be picked up by helicopter and flown to the summit of Bowen Peak for another epic descent. You'll get to choose a short additional pedal up through native beech forest to visit the Kelly McGarry memorial table & ride the Fernhill trails, or just blast down through the flowy trails of the Queenstown Bike Park. Both options finish in central Queenstown where you started. *Coronet Peak chairlift portion of trip is subject to Coronet Peak Bike Park season opening dates (Substitute: shuttle of Hot Rod trail on lower Coronet Peak). "Queenstown’s Backyard" for the advanced riders who love single track. Fly from Queenstown Airport over the town centre to Bowen Peak, 1631 metres above Lake Whakatipu. Take in the amazing views from the summit, then start your descent through natural tussock and sub-alpine scrub before hitting the Missing Link trail from the Ben Lomond saddle & down into native beech forest. From here we have multiple descent options: continuing down into the Queenstown Bike Park trails or a short pedal uphill over to the Fernhill loop trails. We'll finish in downtown Queenstown for well-earned refreshments at one of the many bike-friendly bars & cafes. |
A short, but oh so sweet, flight to the top of Crown Peak with expansive 360-degree views of Queenstown, Wanaka and beyond. A great ride for a mix of intermediate and advanced riders. From the summit you will descend down the scenic 4x4 track through multiple switchbacks & some rustic sections to keep the excitement levels high, before heading onto the historic Brackens gully miners trail single track. Finish the ride by descending off the Crown Terrace and down to the gold mining village of Arrowtown - choice of Tobin’s 4WD track or Murphy’s Run single track. Fly to just below the summit of Ben Cruachan and we'll ride down the rocky alpine ridgeline via a 4WD track towards Coal Pit Saddle. If track and weather conditions permit, we can divert from the ridge about halfway down to include Glenroy Water Race or stay on the 4WD track - both options offer epic views and fun riding down to Coal Pit saddle. With one last look at the Remarkables range its a rough & ready off road 4WD track down to the Gibbston Valley Tavern for a cold refreshing beverage to finish! |
